Summary
The English as an Additional Language (EAL) Consultant provides leadership, coordination, and expertise in the implementation and ongoing development of English as an Additional Language programming across Saskatchewan Distance Learning Centre (Sask DLC). As a member of the Student Supports team, the consultant supports the administration, coordination, and supervision of EAL services to ensure consistent, equitable, and responsive supports for multilingual learners from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
Working under the direction of the Superintendent of Student Supports, the EAL Consultant supports organizational processes related to student identification, language assessment, program placement, staff support, and Ministry reporting. The consultant works collaboratively with Campus Administrators, EAL Teachers, Student Support team members, families, and community partners to ensure multilingual learners have equitable access to learning and opportunities for success within Sask DLC’s digital learning environment. The consultant provides instructional leadership in second-language acquisition, supports staff in implementing evidence-based language development practices, and monitors the consistency and effectiveness of EAL programming across the organization.
