Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware is hiring an Anesthesia Technician. The Anesthesia Technician’s core duties are essential to keeping the OR/MRI functioning and on time.
1. Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employee’s supervisor.
2. Maintain adequate stock of all required equipment and supplies in designated areas at established par levels.
3. Prepare anesthesia equipment and supplies for daily department activity.
4. Maintain clean and safe work areas for all healthcare providers in the Surgical Suite (ex. OR, workroom).
5. Record and sign the appropriate records for expirations and specialty carts.
6. Ensure equipment is cleaned after use and ready for future use.
7. Transport specimens, labs, etc., to appropriate areas/rooms.
8. Maintain and replace oxygen cylinders on stretcher/bed, walk-a-bout tanks in the OR, and tanks on the anesthesia machine.
9. Recognize patient care priorities; communicate patient needs to the appropriate staff.
10. Perform or assist others to perform correct aseptic techniques, isolation procedures and infection control measures.
11. Perform related duties as required.
12. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures and internal controls established for the department.
13. Always maintain patient privacy and confidentiality of information.
14. Set up IV fluids and tubing in preparation and assist as needed.
15. Prepare fluid warmer units for use during fluid or blood transfusion.
16. Clean and restock anesthesia carts with supplies.
17. Prepare and calibrate transducers for invasive monitoring.
18. Ensure adequate infusion pumps are available for the anesthesia provider.
19. Maintain patient monitoring equipment to include, but not limited to: Pulse oximetry, ECG monitors, O2 analyzers, airway gas monitors, ventilation systems.
20. Set up ultrasound with patient info and assist with regional blocks.
21. Set up scopes/video laryngoscopes and assist as needed.
Knowledge and Formal Training:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Medical terminology training preferred.
Previous hospital experience preferred.
BLS required – certification by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) preferred.
