Associate Director, Applied Machine Learning Full Time
Best Buy Co. has an opening for the position of Associate Director – Applied Machine Learning, based out of its headquarters in Richfield, Minnesota. This position provides a telecommuting benefit allowing the employee to live anywhere in the contiguous United States. Lead the design and development of Machine Learning Solutions as services. Direct daily operations of department, analyzing workflow, establishing priorities, developing standards, setting deadlines, and controlling budgets. Develop and interpret organizational goals, policies, and procedures related to machine learning. Contribute to the roadmap of Best Buy’s core machine learning capabilities. Manage, mentor, and coach a team of Machine Learning Scientists and Engineers leading state-of-the-art machine learning and deep learning techniques. Lead development and deployment of solutions that scale to millions of requests per second with millisecond latency. Consult with users, management, vendors, and technicians to assess computing needs and system requirements. Salary for position ranges from $184,870 to $280,000, commensurate with experience. Proffered position comes with standard company benefits for full time employees. Full Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent foreign degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science or a related IT field plus five years of progressive, post-bachelor’s experience in the following areas: (1) Building Machine Learning and/or AI driven products; (2) Knowledge and experience with general-purpose programming languages (C++, Java, HTML, Scala, and/or Swift); (3) Experience with data science/analytics programming languages (Python, R, and/or Julia); (4) Building, deploying and serving Machine Learning products over Windows, GCP and/or AWS; and (5) Experience with reinforcement learning, deep learning, Bayesian inference, graphical modeling and stochastic optimization. At least two years of the qualifying experience above must also include managing a team of machine learning or data scientists. Position requires some travel to company headquarters in Richfield, Minnesota and limited additional travel to other company sites across the country.
