Director of Payroll Full Time

We are seeking a Director of Payroll.

The Payroll Director manages all aspects of payroll processing operations. This position is responsible for compliance with payroll and payroll tax laws and regulations. The Payroll Director supervises the Payroll Specialist.

Responsibilities:

• Oversees and actively manages all payroll operations, supervising the Payroll Staff.
• Completes implementation of all UKG planned modules.
• Develops all appropriate UKG reporting for analysis of all payroll costs and variances.
• Prepares reports as requested by finance and HR management.
• Establishes controls via UKG reporting to ensure all payroll amounts and dates are accurate.
• Directs the collection, calculation, and entering of payroll data amongst all Office Managers, Human Resources Managers and Unit Directors.
• Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
• Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
• Key liaison with Human Resources team and will work to resolve all interdepartmental issues.
• Oversees payroll integrations in future acquisitions and acts as the subject matter expert for payroll processes and systems on M & A activities.
• Main point of contact for Regional Directors and all operations’ team, working to analyze and resolve all issues.
• Maintains internal controls over all payroll operations.
• Ensures compliance with all federal and state tax laws and develops implementation plans for required changes to operations.
• Familiarity with HRIS software.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 7-10 years of experience, including operating in a multi-state/ multi-unit environment that includes complex states such as CA, with considerable experience with a large volume of hourly and part-time employees (shift diff, OT, etc.)
• Proven experience as Director or Head of Payroll.
• Proficient in various payroll software applications including experience using UKG Pro/Dimensions required.
• Experience working for a Private Equity owned organization
• A solid understanding of payroll and payroll tax laws and regulations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required.
• Excellent management, supervisory and people skills.
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, capable of juggling multiple tasks.
• The position will require high energy and a highly motivated individual.
• Skilled at managing people and resolving situations.
• Self-directed.  Must be highly self-motivated and able to handle multiple priorities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with excellent Excel skills.
