ABOUT THE POSITION
The County of Riverside’s University Health System – Medical Center seeks a Hospital Environmental Services Supervisor to join their EVS team. This position is located in Moreno Valley.
Under general supervision, the Hospital Environmental Services Supervisor will be responsible for touring the hospital regularly to observe compliance, construction, and quality of work, assuring that safety, health, and sanitation regulations are met; performing new product evaluations; ordering, receiving, and accounting of all aseptic equipment, chemicals and supplies; submitting requests for the purchasing of supplies and equipment; maintaining records of supplies used; assigning, supervising, and evaluating work assigned to crews of housekeeping personnel at Riverside County Regional Medical Center or the Mental Health Hospital, coordinating the day-to-day activities of the department, acting for the Hospital Environmental Services Manager at Riverside County Regional Medical Center during absences; and other work as required.
**The position is a Regular/Full-time/Companion position. Companion positions differ from regular positions in that they have the possibility of being temporary.**
Candidates with previous experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint are highly desired.
This position has a 9/80 schedule, with non-payday Friday off (this is a day shift position and the shift hours will be determined at a later time).

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
•Assigns and reviews the work involved in the environmental services operations; inspects and corrects the work of environmental services personnel; reports maintenance needs to the Maintenance Department.
•Coordinates and conducts training sessions; assists in the review of schedules for daily assignments; assists in the testing of new products and makes recommendations to the manager.
•Participates in the interview and selection of new employees; coordinates environmental services with various hospital departments.
•Maintains daily employee work records, laundry requisitions, and inventory forms; participates in the development and maintenance of procedure manuals.
•Interprets environmental service policies and procedures to personnel as needed; tours hospital regularly observing compliance with instruction and quality of work; assures that safety, health, and sanitation regulations are met.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Three years of progressively responsible housekeeping and custodial experience, preferably in an acute care hospital or health care agency.
A valid CA Driver’s license is required.
Knowledge of: Principles of supervision; general sanitation methods, materials, and techniques that include wall, floor, and fixture cleaning and chemical and disinfectant usage.
Ability to: Supervise the work of others; establish and maintain records; prepare clear and concise reports; read, comprehend, interpret, and apply policies and procedures; establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Pre-Employment

Probationary Period

DEFERRED COMPENSATION: Voluntary employee contribution with a choice between two 457 deferred compensation plan options.
VACATION ACCRUAL (Bi-Weekly Accrual):
0< 3 year = 80 Hours (10 Days)
4< 9 years = 120 Hours (15 Days)
10 or more years = 160 Hours (20 Days)
Maximum Vacation leave accumulation is 480 hours.
SICK LEAVE: Four (4) hours Sick Leave accrual per pay period with unlimited accrual.
HOLIDAYS: Normally 12 paid holidays per year.
BEREAVEMENT LEAVE: Allowed 5 days (3 days are County paid; 2 additional days can be taken from accrued Sick Leave balance).
BASIC LIFE INSURANCE: Equal to one times annual base salary not to exceed $50,000 of term life coverage. Premiums are paid by the County. Additional Supplemental Life plan is available for employee purchase.
DISABILITY – LONG-TERM DISABILITY (LTD): Benefit pays 66.67% of earnings to a maximum of $10,000 per month; 30-day waiting period; pays to age 65. Benefit can be coordinated with other available leave balances to provide up to 100% of pay.
POST RETIREMENT MEDICAL CONTRIBUTION: A monthly contribution is made by the County towards retiree health insurance offered through the County as governed by the applicable SEIU Memorandum of Understanding.
