Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS-related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians.
The Intern, Technical Data Package will be responsible for assisting the JSS project team in preparing the final data package for delivery to the client. You will work jointly with the Integrated Logistics Support and the Data Management teams to evaluate the project documents and data and identify and address any errors.
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 889 Harbourside Drive, North Vancouver.
What you’ll do
Verify metadata for documents, fill in missing metadata and identify and correct errors.
Work with the Intellectual Property team to help identify IP data.
Review document files to ensure they meet quality standards.
Review document files to ensure completeness.
Work with stakeholders to resolve more complex concerns.
Assign documents to a hierarchical structure (the Equipment Family Tree).
Review Engineering Change Data Packages to ensure completeness.
Applicants from various disciplines will be considered, and, so long as the core tasks are performed, the work can be adjusted to suit the successful applicant’s strengths.
What you’ll bring:
Enrollment in Engineering, Computer Sciences, Library Sciences or a related discipline.
Special consideration will be given to applicants with a demonstrated attention to detail, technical aptitude, and an ability to identify and enact solutions.
Strong communication, interpersonal and organization skills.
Strong technical skills including the ability to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings.
Experience with drafting standards.
Excellent digital and information literacy.
Ability to work independently with minimal direction and manage their time effectively.
Ability to recognize when to ask for more guidance
Experience with archives and/or data cleaning is considered an asset
Experience with Systems Engineering, maintenance, and In-Service Support is considered an asset
Experience with coding and automation is considered an asset

We require a full-time commitment Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of $26.00/hour.
