Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Millwright will play a vital role in ensuring the consistent installation, maintenance, and optimization of machines, equipment, and other tools critical to the operational success of the manufacturing processes. You will work closely with the facilities and operations departments to support the implementation of innovative approaches aimed at improving the reliability of critical tools and equipment.

Education & Experience:
Millwright Certificate of Qualification with Interprovincial Red Seal Endorsement or a recognized equivalent Provincial Trades Qualification.
Minimum of 30 months documented relevant experience.
Skills & Qualifications:
Shipbuilding experience in a new construction shipyard preferred;
Comprehend and follow written and spoken directions and work in a safe & efficient manner;
Good communication skills both written and verbal in the English language;
Ability to work in a team environment or individually with a positive attitude;
Demonstrated proficiency reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings;
Demonstrates proficiency with alignment, rigging, layout and a variety of hand tooling;
Demonstrate the ability to repair defective machine parts and systems;
Perform preventative maintenance procedures and accurately document the work;
Apply mechanical repair principles and procedures to ensure machinery functions properly;
Demonstrated knowledge of Electromechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics;
Must be able to work in a construction environment involving confined spaces, working at heights, physical labour, and various weather conditions;
Must be able to be qualified to wear a respirator.
These are Union roles with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers – Local 550 and union membership will be required upon hire. The full Journeyperson will earn $54.29 p/hr. Please note the person hired for this position will work on Day Shift until they pass probation and get oriented. After this they will permanently be moved to Graveyard Shift. There is a premium rate of $4.65 p/hr for the Graveyard Shift.
