Job Description and Responsibilities
Prepares non-ferrous materials for loading and unloading.
Sort, bale, and package materials in the yard
Load and unload materials, outgoing and incoming shipments on trucks, trailers, bins from peddlers and commercial customers
Work with yard inspector and operators to minimize yard congestion and ensure a smooth traffic flow
Use hand-held mobile radio devices to effectively coordinate tasks and resources between the yard and scale
Inspect and grade ferrous and nonferrous material
Work in a nonferrous warehouse as needed/help out with inventory, material sorting, organization, and cleanliness as needed
Performs other duties as they might be assigned
Requirements
No experience necessary, but previous work experience in a manufacturing, production, or similar scrapyard/auto part environment will be considered an asset
Completion of High School and/or equivalent
Able to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing, walking, sitting, climbing, crawling, kneeling, bending, moderate to heavy lifting and pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds throughout the day
Willing and able to work in variable weather conditions, including hot, dry summer conditions and cold, harsh winter conditions
Willing and able to work in an environment subject to fluctuations in dust, odors, fumes, and noise
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to understand and communicate numerical data
Able to work with minimal supervision/general oversight
Must have reliable transportation, as the work site is not accessible by public transit
