Best Buy Co. has an opening in Richfield, Minnesota for the position of Senior Software Engineer. Design, configure, install, and support large enterprise platforms/products from start to finish. Keep up with industry trends and be an advocate for the standards. Create and improve internal configurations and scripts. Design and configure system automation and/or integrations. Take responsibility in ensuring team’s high work quality. Teach best practices and context to internal engineers. Improve knowledge and understanding of core concepts of infrastructure engineering. Be a mentor for the personal and peer growth. Take ownership of at least one infrastructure platform/services and its quality. Define and drive technology strategy. Communicate effectively both verbally and written with various business partners. Help in bringing the team together as a whole. Participate in and lead production support situations. With in-depth of knowledge, anticipate technical issues at the product level and make architectural and design decisions to avoid them. Lead and effectively triage complex issues across systems in many environments. Take the lead in root cause analysis. Demonstrate creativity and take initiative in solving complex problems. Participate in the creation and presentation of technical designs. Be a major contributor in the delivery of complex solutions. Actively participate in planning activities and contribute to strategic planning. Fill in holes in product/services direction and take the appropriate action within his team. Be aware of the technology landscape and plan delivery of coarse-grained business needs spanning multiple services and platforms. Influence technical peers outside his team in some areas. Set a consistent example of agile development practices and coach other engineers to work as a team with Product and Services related to Infrastructure. This position provides a telecommuting benefit allowing the employee to reside anywhere in the United States, but requires travel to the Richfield headquarters at least once every fiscal quarter. Full requirements: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in computer science, information technology , or a related technology field, plus three years of experience with (1) implementing, administering, and troubleshooting network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, controllers; (2) creating accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems; and (3) maintaining and troubleshooting LAN and WAN connectivity and applications. At least one year of experience must also include performing root cause analysis, working with Cisco Routers and Switches, and creating and improving internal libraries and tools. In the alternative, Best Buy will accept a bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in computer science, information technology , or a related technology field, plus five (5) years of progressive, post-bachelor’s degree experience with (1) implementing, administering, and troubleshooting network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, controllers; (2) creating accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems; and (3) maintaining and troubleshooting LAN and WAN connectivity and applications, and at least one year of experience with performing root cause analysis, working with Cisco Routers and Switches, and creating and improving internal libraries and tools. This position requires travel to the Richfield headquarters at least once every fiscal quarter.
