Technical Co-op candidates will be key players in executing the GTI Energy Roadmap in solving global energy challenges by innovating and developing new capabilities driven by market demand. GTI Energy is seeking top-performing undergraduates actively pursuing an associate degree in a technical area of study for this part-time, engineering/technical role, which will begin with a select 1 to 2-year, engaging, high-visibility, Technical Co-op Program that will prepare the selected candidates with in-depth, hands-on experience across a broad range of energy technology development and implementation activities both inside and outside of the laboratories.
The qualified candidate will perform R&D functions in collaboration with and with guidance from GTI Energy staff, with a strong focus on energy efficient and grid interactive building technologies, microgrids, energy storage, industrial energy efficiency and renewable energy generation. Additional focus areas include hybrid (dual-fuel) equipment for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, and water heating technologies for residential and commercial buildings and for industrial processes (including electrical and natural gas driven systems). The candidate will leverage the knowledge of specialties within areas like Mechanical, Environmental, Aerospace or Electrical Engineering. After successfully completing the 1 to 2-year Technical Co-op Program, participants will be offered a full-time role, if available.

The position will be based in California, preferable in the Sacramento area. All members of the Technical Co-op Program are required to be in-person. There will be limited opportunities for remote work.
