The Technical Engineer will support the sales process by nurturing the technical side of customer relationships, ensuring GTI products and engineered solutions are seamlessly designed into new customer applications, projects required to support the designed applications are executed and delivered on. Additionally, identifies and resolves any customer technical issues in the process while maintaining customer satisfaction, develops product/technical strategy to support the growth plan.
Position Responsibilities:
Develop and maintains technical service plan that is aligned with the overall business strategy
Maintains a deep understanding of products and capabilities; provides application support to maximize design-ins for all served markets
Develops materials for customer presentations/tutorials, application notes and writes papers/presents at technical conferences
Familiar with a variety of concepts, practices and procedures related to composite materials
Relies on extensive experience to produce strategic plans, solve problems and accomplish goals
Tracks customer Performance Benchmarking versus competitor solutions, application issues and feedback as they relate to technical product performance in specific applications and recommends areas for improvement
Prioritizes customer requests based on customer size/issue/strategic importance and manages resources accordingly
Provides input to Operations (and value-added partners) on customer requirements and specifications, including ones that may require process development
Helps Sales to coordinate customer visits with Plant Operations
Interfaces with Marketing to provide input for technical and promotional literature, actively participates in trade shows in support of our marketing efforts
Keeps abreast of technical developments in the market that could most benefit from the use of GTI products
Actively supports the launch and roll-out of new products into our mainstream product offering
Works with Sales, R&D and Marketing to understand current products in current/new applications; leads the Technology Road mapping effort and provides guidance to new product development
Actively supports our IP strategy
Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in chemical/electrical/materials with a minimum 2 years’ experience in Engineering
Lean manufacturing/six sigma experience preferred
Professional skills
Experience in a team-based organization
Strong customer focus (internal and external)
Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally
Proficient computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
30% travel to various customers, collaborators, and vendors
Must possess high energy and be highly adaptable to work in a nimble, innovative, and fast pace environment that supports a culture of continuous learning and development
Must have high attention to detail with ability to oversee projects from origin through execution
