Nemours is seeking a UNIX Systems Administrator (Full-Time), to join our Nemours Children’s Health team in Orlando, Florida.
This is a hybrid position.
The UNIX/Linux System Administrator position is part of the Midrange team and is responsible for managing and supporting all UNIX/Linux systems, SAN/NAS Storage systems, IBM Spectrum Protect Software and Epic’s Cache databases. This position will require technical knowledge of AIX/Linux systems to facilitate the install and management of the core operating system as well as the analysis and resolution of system hardware, software and networking issues. In addition, this position will provide support and assistance to application teams with items such as patch management, installation, and support of the applications with their respective vendors.
In addition, The UNIX/Linux System Administrator will define project requirements, estimate project tasks, and provide industry knowledge of tasks associated with administration responsibilities. The UNIX/Linux System Administrator will provide recommendations and will collaborate with other IS teams as needed. This position will perform security changes, apply security updates and support to application teams with items such as patch management, installation, and support of the applications with their respective vendors.
Install, support, and manage enterprise AIX systems, Linux, storage area networks SAN and NAS and Enterprise Backup System (Spectrum Protect).
Provide support for Epic’s Cache database.
Monitor system errors, exceptions, performance, and general systems maintenance.
Perform troubleshooting steps and support associated with the enterprise midrange environment
Provide documentation to other IS teams and Service Desk staff prior to implementation of newly installed products.
Accurately document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal.
Initiate communication with customers and vendors to ensure operating system levels and system level patches or upgrades are applied to minimize performance and availability issues.
Job Requirements
Associate’s Degree and a minimum of five (5) + years’ experience in a related field required or minimum of eight (8) + years’ experience required in lieu of degree.
